Eat|See|Hear Outdoor Movie Special Screening: Idiocracy
September 24, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
JOIN Mike Judge, Terry Crews and Dax Shepard As They Reunite For This 10th Anniversary Screening Event!
Shepard and Amanda Fairey announced the #MakeAmericaSmartAgain movement earlier this year to encourage voter education and registration during this election season. More than a quirky hashtag, this official call to action inspires voters to learn more about the political system, the issues affecting the country and direct communities, and local and national candidates.
#MakeAmericaSmartAgain was created to get people to engage in deeper thought and dialogue about issues, and be less apathetic by participating in democracy. This movement is non-partisan to promote awareness and education, not to align with or disparage candidates.
Please join us for this special outdoor screening of the Mike Judge cult film IDIOCRACY.
Proceeds from the event will benefit The Young Literati of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles
In the Future, Intelligence is Extinct
Private Joe Bauers, the definition of “average American”, is selected by the Pentagon to be the guinea pig for a top-secret hibernation program. Forgotten, he awakes five centuries in the future. He discovers a society so incredibly dumbed down that he’s easily the most intelligent person alive. Written and directed by Mike Judge. Starring Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard and Terry Crews.
WHERE: The Baseball Field at the Echo Park Tennis Center. This is a very large, grassy lawn. You’ll want to bring pillows, cushions and blankets.
PRO TIP: Bring pillows and cushions to sit on and blankets to cuddle under – it gets chilly on the grass when the sun goes down. Low chairs are preferred vs tall camping style chairs.
DOGS: Yes! This event is dog-friendly! All dogs are welcomed with a free biscuit at the door!
TIME: Doors 5pm, Music 7pm, Movie 8pm * Sept Events Start Earlier
*ENTRANCE: Please enter on West Temple St.
SEATING/CHAIRS: This location is a sprawling, grassy lawn. Pillows, cushions and blankets are preferred, though low chairs with low backs are allowed. If you have a tall chair (like a lawn chair or camping style chair more than 6 inches off the ground) you will be required to sit outside the center of the venue, which is marked with signs on both the left & right side of the venue. There is ample room for chairs, so please don’t block the view of the person(s) behind you.
