* SPECIAL GUESTS: Mr. Jonathan Gold himself and Evan Kleiman from KCRW’s Good Food for a Q&A and film introduction
No, not that violent Brazilian movie. Eccentric Pulitzer winning food writer Jonathan Gold leads a culinary journey through the hidden gems of LA’s food scene. In the melting pot and epicenter of a culinary revolution, City of Gold is a love letter to LA and its diverse communities through the tradition of food that will make you feel both proud to live here and incredibly hungry.
PRO TIP: There are a limited amount of old timey lawn chairs available to rent for $5. Get their early so you don’t have to schlep your own chair, otherwise bring your own low chair & blanket.
DOGS: Yes! This event is dog-friendly! Friendly, leashed dogs are always welcomed.
TIME: Doors 6, Movie 7:30
ENTRANCE: Adjacent to the parking lot entrance on the Pier and adjacent to the Pier police station.
SEATING/CHAIRS: This location is a sprawling, wooden deck. It’s a Pier. Made up of a lot of wooden planks. You will definitely want something soft to sit on. Or a low chair. Pillows and cushions are great, too and you’ll want a blanket because it tends to get a bit chilly in the evening.
There is parking on the Pier deck, accessible via the ramp at Ocean and Colorado. There are also two lower lots accessible via Appian Way. Click here for a map and click here for all the seasonal rates and hours.
Want to make this even easier? We recommend reserving a discounted parking spot in advance here.
DIRECTIONS: Go west. If your shoes are wet, you’ve gone too far. The ramp at the intersection of Ocean and Colorado is your most direct route by car, bike or foot. If you know where you’re coming from, click here to map your route.
