Eat|See|Hear Outdoor Movie: Depeche Mode: 101
August 25, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
“The grabbing hands. Grab all they can. Everything counts in large amounts.”
Hot off the heels of its breakthrough album, “Music for the Masses,” British synth pop group Depeche Mode embark on the last leg of its 1989 North American tour. Acclaimed documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker is on hand to document the trek from New York to California, focusing his lens on the band, its fans, and the minutiae of tour life. The documentary culminates with Depeche Mode’s final performance of the tour at the Pasadena Rose Bowl, 18 June 1988.
Join us for a worldwide exclusive screening of this iconic event right back inside the stadium where it was filmed!
PLUS, Depeche Mode wanted to do something special for their/our fans and they’re re-creating OFFICIAL 101-era merch just for us and this event! There will also be Global Spirit Tour merch for sale, so you can get your gear before the Hollywood Bowl shows. Now you don’t have to say “I wish I still had my shirt from that show” – you can buy a new one! 🙂
DATE: FRIDAY AUGUST 25TH
TIME: * NOTE EARLIER START TIME * Doors 5, Music 7:00, Movie 8
MUSICAL GUEST: DJ Richard Blade
Richard Blade became a fixture on the American music scene in 1982 when he started as a DJ at KROQ. Within a few months he became the #1 arbitron-rated radio personality on the West Coast. Now, Richard is what in today’s terms is called a hyphenate! He is a working DJ – producer-writer-host-v/o talent-creator. You’ve seen him on TV, Film and hear him on both Sirius XM and on our own JACK FM hosting “Richard Blade’s Flashback Lunch” Mon-Fri.
It is only fitting for us to have him out to spin great tunes and introduce Depeche Mode: 101 as he had a similar role (the introduction part, anyway) introducing the band to 65,000 Depeche Mode fans at the original Music For The Masses concert Rose Bowl show that 101 is based on.
Rose Bowl Stadium
WHERE: Rose Bowl Stadium
PRO TIP: This is a HUGE sport and concert venue. You will be sitting in stadium seating – chairs are not needed. Leave them at home for this event. Due to the built in seating, this may not be the most comfortable venue for your dog. Just sayin’. Bring pillows and cushions to sit on and blankets to cuddle under.
DOGS: Yes! This event is dog-friendly! All dogs are welcomed with a free biscuit at the door! It might be a little tight for bigger pooches at this venue. Or you may want to consider leaving the pooch at home for this one if he/she is bigger as this is stadium seating (and you may want to dance a lot), so it might be tight for your canine friend.
TIME: * Note Earlier Start Time * Doors 5:00, Music 7, Movie 8pm
ENTRANCE: Please enter through the main Rose Bowl Stadium entrance. This is the ONLY entrance. You will be going through Rose Bowl security with a bag check. There will be NO “ins and outs” – once you are inside, if you choose to leave you will have to pay to come back in. This is unlike a regular Eat|See|Hear event and we have to abide by Rose Bowl Stadium Security Rules. Thank you for your cooperation.
IMPORTANT INFO: NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL WILL BE PERMITTED. There WILL be a bar on site selling beer, wine and cocktails, so you can get your drank on. While outside snacks are permitted, there will be a wide variety of food trucks on hand, to satisfy your diverse tastes. Unopened, factory sealed non-alcoholic beverages are permitted.
SEATING/CHAIRS: This location is a stadium with built-in stadium – chairs, not benches. All seating is open, first come, first served. Pillows, cushions and blankets are strongly recommended to stay warm and will keep your tush comfy. * DO NOT BRING CHAIRS *
PARKING: $5 Rose Bowl Parking Lot (not controlled by Eat|See|Hear)
METRO/PUBLIC TRANSPORT: You can also take the Metro Gold Line to Memorial Park Station.
